Design of voice alarm systems – requirements
The voice warning system (VAS) is one of the basic elements of the security infrastructure used in industrial and commercial facilities and many other public buildings. In this article, we present the basic requirements and standards governing the design of voice warning systems. Find out what influences the quality of the warning system, how the acceptance of this type of installation takes place and check what factors should be taken into account when designing a voice alarm system.
WHAT AFFECTS THE QUALITY OF VAS?
The functionality and reliability of voice warning systems depend on many factors, including: type and location of fire loudspeakers or acoustic properties of the interior of the room and building. But it is not everything. Equally important may be, among others: climatic conditions in the facility, parameters of the power supply system, quality of materials used and their sound absorption, and finally the number and intensity of use of the rooms by people. All these factors should be taken into account when designing voice warning systems for a given industrial facility.
HOW IS THE RECEIPT OF VAS SYSTEMS LIKE?
The requirements specifying how a VAS should be designed also precisely regulate the conditions for acceptance of this type of installation by the State Fire Service. During the inspection, the following are carried out: detailed measurements and a number of other activities, such as:
- checking whether the warning system was constructed in accordance with the design documentation,
- analysis of certificates and certificates confirming the system configuration used,
- measuring the time needed to broadcast an alarm message after turning on the primary or emergency power source.
In addition, VAS measurements include measuring speech intelligibility as well as warning signal across the entire coverage area.
DESIGNING VAS- DESIGNER, WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH SUPPORT!
Taking into account the multitude of formal requirements specified in VAS standards and regulations, and, above all, the role of this type of system in the effective conduct of evacuation operations, when designing VAS sound warning systems, it is worth cooperating with specialists.
